The Toyota automobile factory announced today that it will recall more than 1.35 million vehicles of the Vitz model, better known to us as Yaris, in order to fix a fault in the seat belts and one component of the exhaust system.
The types of cars being recalled were also sold on the Croatian market under the name Yaris.
– The action requiring the repair of the insulation on the seat belts includes several last-generation Yarises sold in the Republic of Croatia. All owners of these vehicles will be invited within a month for a free inspection and repair of the seat belts. The action related to the fault in the exhaust system component does not apply to vehicles sold in the Republic of Croatia – explained Toyota Croatia to us.
Toyota did not know how many new Yarises were sold in Croatia, but emphasized that all will be repaired at authorized service centers. Toyota sells the car model known to us as Yaris under different names in different markets, also known as Toyota Vitz and Toyota Echo. The problem with Toyotas was noticed in Japan where one case of fire was reported due to a faulty seat design. Another problem was observed in the exhaust system, but vehicles with such a fault are not present in Croatia. It is currently unknown how much the recall of such a large number of vehicles could cost Toyota. (Ante Livajić)
