The construction of a 30 million euro retail space in Zagreb’s Jankomir and the establishment of new centers in Zadar, Osijek, and Pula are part of Lesnina’s investment plans in Croatia, presented at a press conference marking the sixtieth anniversary of the Slovenian furniture retailer.
The new retail center in Jankomir, which will span approximately 40,000 square meters, is expected to be completed this year, while suitable locations for the other announced centers are still being sought.
Lesnina’s total investment in Croatia over the next five years will range between 50 and 60 million euros, while in Serbia, where Lesnina currently has 18 showrooms, the Slovenian company plans to invest around 100 million euros during this period. In addition to Croatia and Serbia, Lesnina intends to invest in the Czech Republic, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, it will continue to expand through franchise partners, announced Lesnina’s CEO, Bojan Papič. Despite the announced economic crisis, Lesnina does not intend to cut costs.
– “We will not focus on the cost side, but on revenue growth. We intend to invest more in marketing, not cut the budget,” announced Papič, adding that they will not lay off employees but will hire new ones due to the opening of new retail spaces.
– “Layoffs are only possible in the case of a drastic drop in revenue, but we do not believe that will happen. In 2009, we plan to achieve similar revenue in Croatia as in 2008 – around 100 million euros,” concluded Papič.
On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, Lesnina will organize a large promotional discount – 60 selected items will be sold at a 60% lower price. (A. K.)
