Croatia Ranked 25th in the World by Globalization Index

Belgium has been the most globalized country in the world for the fourth consecutive year, while Croatia ranks 25th, as reported on Tuesday by the Swiss economic institute KOF from Zurich, which traditionally calculates the globalization index of countries each year.

KOF measures the degree of economic, social, and political globalization in its research. This year, the study covered 154 countries. Following Belgium are Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, and Luxembourg, with Hungary rounding out the top ten. At the bottom are Bangladesh, Nepal, Sudan, Tajikistan, the Central African Republic, Rwanda, Niger, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Myanmar.

According to the globalization index, Croatia has been improving year by year, moving from 33rd two years ago and 31st last year to now 25th. Behind Croatia are Australia (26th), the United Kingdom (27th), Italy (28th), the United States (38th), Russia (61st), Japan (70th), and China (91st). Slovenia occupies the 20th position, Bosnia and Herzegovina 43rd, and North Macedonia 89th.

Economic globalization refers to the flow of money, capital, and transactions, social globalization encompasses the spread of ideas, information, and interactions with people from other countries, while the political dimension relates to integration into international politics. Croatia achieved its best results in social globalization and its worst in political globalization. (Hina)
