The force majeure certificate, which is being issued these days by the Croatian Chamber of Economy to companies that have suffered damage due to a gas shortage, has been requested only by Željezara Sisak. According to information from the CCE, they have requested five force majeure certificates.
– There are several reasons why companies do not request a force majeure certificate. Part of the reason is that some counties do not have a gas network at all, while some companies that use gas during the gas crisis operated at a technical minimum (the so-called cold operation) or switched to alternative fuels – explained Lidija Švaljek, director of the Business Information Center at the CCE.
Part of the reason is also that some companies have not yet assessed the damage, while others are preparing for lawsuits and therefore do not request certificates. Given that the certificate can only be obtained from the day before yesterday, it is not surprising that there are not more requests for its issuance. Some companies have not experienced significant delays in production, so they do not need the certificate, and some have good relationships with business partners, which is why they do not feel the need for a certificate. However, despite everything, the CCE has received inquiries from various companies about what exactly needs to be done to obtain the certificate – Švaljek explained. (Ante Livajić)
