The State Attorney’s Office reported on its website that an indictment has been filed against Brajša (73) before the Zagreb Municipal Court for criminal offenses against the security of payment transactions and business operations, abuse of authority in economic operations, and violation of the obligation to maintain commercial and business records. She is accused of failing to pay contributions for income tax and surtax on employment income, as well as mandatory contributions for pension, disability, and health insurance, and employment contributions for her employees from the beginning of 2001 to the end of 2004, with the aim of obtaining illegal material gain for Caritas.
Specifically, Brajša, according to the indictment, paid employees in cash, in amounts greater than the net amounts stated in the payroll calculations, and for employees who did not have a signed employment contract, she paid salaries without calculating taxes and contributions. In this way, she harmed the state budget by 2.7 million kuna, the pension and disability insurance funds by 1.5 million kuna, the health insurance funds by 1.3 million kuna, and the Employment Service by 101 thousand kuna.
