Agreement Reached on the Establishment of a Gas Consortium

European energy companies Gazprom, E.ON Ruhrgas, ENI, Wingas, and GDF Suez have agreed to establish a consortium to find a way out of the Russian-Ukrainian gas dispute, stated Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin on Friday evening, as reported by Russian agencies.

"Gazprom, German E.On and Ruhrgas, Wingas, Italian ENI, and French Gaz de France have agreed to participate in the international gas consortium," Sechin stated. The consortium is expected to supply Ukrainians "technical gas" necessary for the operation of Ukrainian gas pipelines. It is necessary to supply 140 million cubic meters of gas to the pipeline running through Ukraine to restore regular supply. (Hina)
