Steve Jobs Goes on Sick Leave Until the End of June

The head of the computer giant Apple, Steve Jobs, announced that he is going on sick leave until the end of June. He sent his decision to go on sick leave via email to all employees in the company on Wednesday.

In the message, he stated that he is stepping back from public life to focus on his health. Jobs revealed his health issues last week when he disclosed that his health has been compromised due to a hormonal imbalance. Speculation about his health condition began in mid-December 2008 when Apple announced that Jobs would not participate in the regular annual conference in San Francisco.

During his sick leave, he will be replaced by the head of operations, Tim Cook. Apple’s directors fully supported their leader’s decision, who plans to participate only in major strategic decisions of the company during his absence. Following the announcement of Jobs’ temporary withdrawal, Apple is facing a decline in the value of its shares, which clearly shows how dependent the company is on the image of one of its founders and its leader. The company’s shares lost 7 percent of their value on Wednesday. (O. Š.)
