Viro Delayed Processing, Pliva Operating Without Major Issues, Dioki Reduced Consumption

At the Viro sugar factory in Virovitica, the campaign for processing sugar beets has been completed, and due to issues with gas supply, the start of raw sugar processing has been postponed, it was learned today from the company.

The processing has been postponed indefinitely, and this delay will jeopardize planned investments during the period from the beginning of March to the end of September this year, they say at Viro. In that sugar factory, they assess that the available quantities of sugar are sufficient to supply the domestic market. At Dioki, they state that the company, like other large industrial consumers, has reduced gas consumption to the minimum necessary to maintain technological processes in operation, in accordance with the Government Regulation on the security of natural gas supply. “We believe that the Government of the Republic of Croatia will find a solution through crisis management measures that will ensure continuous gas supply necessary for the operation of production facilities at this sensitive moment,” they say at Dioki.

At Pliva, they emphasize that the company’s operations are characterized by the application of technologies with lower energy and natural resource usage, and that rational use of energy resources, the application of cogeneration, and changes in fuel type have significantly contributed to increasing energy efficiency. Pliva regularly monitors the situation regarding disruptions in gas supply to Croatia and is in daily contact with the main dispatch center of Plinacro. “Our natural gas consumption is within agreed limits, in such a way that we have minimal consumption that allows us to continue production and prevent pipeline freezing,” they say at Pliva.
