HEP Will Not Reduce Electricity Supply

Hrvatska elektroprivreda (HEP), which has seen a minimum reduction in natural gas supply since this morning, does not announce restrictions on the supply of electricity and thermal energy to consumers.

HEP reported that this morning it has entered the sixth stage of gas reduction, which means that HEP’s natural gas supply has been reduced to the technical minimum or to 12,000 cubic meters per day. This is, as explained by HEP, the minimum supply that ensures that facilities operating on a combination of gas or heating oil can function. Despite this significantly reduced gas supply, HEP does not announce any restrictions on the supply of electricity and thermal energy, reported HEP spokesperson Radomir Milišić.

Namely, all gas facilities will switch to heating oil operation, and HEP has sufficient available capacity as well as enough contracted quantities of imported electricity for the normal supply of the Croatian market with electricity and thermal energy. This morning, INA announced that as of 4:30 AM, the supply of natural gas from Russia to Croatia has been completely interrupted.

The Ministry of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship reported that temporary measures have been introduced to reduce the supply of natural gas for certain categories of consumers – for HEP and industrial consumers directly connected to the gas transport system. According to some information, there have been occasional deliveries of smaller quantities of gas from Russia throughout the day. For example, deliveries of around 30,000 cubic meters per hour or less, which is 20 percent or less of the agreed quantities. However, the situation with these small deliveries varies significantly.
