Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader accepts the invitation for a meeting with his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor, but only if EU representatives are present, stated the spokesperson of the Croatian Government, Zlatko Mehun, on Friday.
"Prime Minister Sanader is for such a meeting, on the condition that representatives of the European Commission or the EU presidency are present," Mehun stated in a telephone conversation with Hina.
According to him, Pahor’s invitation for an official meeting with Sanader, where a way out of the situation caused by Slovenia’s blockade of accession negotiations between Croatia and the EU should be found, has not yet arrived at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Pahor announced on Friday that he has authorized the Slovenian ambassador in Zagreb, Milan Adamič Oražen, to send an official invitation for a meeting to Sanader, confirming his readiness for it to happen as soon as possible and convinced that it would help find a way out of the situation that arose after his Government blocked the opening and closing of most negotiation chapters at the Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels on Friday.
