Hrvoje Mateljić Has Passed Away, Journalist of Lider

Hrvoje Mateljić, commentator of Lider, has unexpectedly passed away in a hospital in Zagreb at the age of 35. The funeral of colleague Mateljić will be held on Tuesday, December 23, at 11:40 at the Miroševac cemetery in Zagreb. He was one of the best journalists in the field of macroeconomics and telecommunications.

Due to his gentle nature and willingness to help younger colleagues, he was highly respected and beloved in the journalistic community. He began his journalism career during his studies at the Zagreb Faculty of Economics, where he edited the magazine Manager. In the second half of the nineties, he wrote for Poslovni svijet, a supplement of Večernji list. In 2002, he was one of the initiators of Poslovni tjednik and editor of the World Economy section, and in 2005 he participated in the launch of the business weekly Lider, where he worked until his sudden death. He was one of the most thorough and analytical economic journalists in the country, extremely modest and reliable. The editorial team of Lider and all the colleagues he worked with will remember him as an exceptional person. We at Lider cannot believe that we will no longer see Hrvoje among us. If there is a colleague who will be impossible to replace – it is Hrvoje.

A memorial for Hrvoje Mateljić will be held on Monday, December 22, at 11 a.m. in the Great Hall of the Croatian Journalists’ House, Perkovčeva 2, Zagreb.
