The First Croatian Car Seat Factory Presented

The Croatian company Paulana, which is engaged in the production of seats and seat parts for the automotive and aerospace industries, today presented the project for a vehicle seat manufacturing factory in Nova Gradiška.

The new factory project will enable the Croatian company to apply the latest and most advanced manufacturing processes and ensure the necessary production capacities for the placement of products in the Western European market. The factory will be located in the Nova Gradiška Industrial Park and will cover an area of 24,200 square meters, of which 2,600 square meters will be occupied by business offices on a greenfield site of 58,000 square meters, chosen by representatives of Paulana. The factory, with an annual production capacity of one million car seats, will employ a maximum of 750 workers in two shifts. In the first phase, the design and optimization of the production complex have been completed, aligning the project with production needs and implemented manufacturing processes.

Collaboration has been established with the Belgian company Immo Industry Logistics and Process Solutions and the German company IO Industry Planning Organization GmbH. The result of the collaboration is a study of the optimal layout and process flows for Paulana’s technological project. Adequate planning and budgeting of production processes will enable the Croatian company to produce high-quality seats in a process-controlled manufacturing environment. The manufacturing process consists of producing metal parts (high-strength aluminum alloys), cold foam casting, cutting and sewing covers for car seats, and ultimately assembling the seats. The process of obtaining the location permit and necessary documents is underway. The planned start of construction is scheduled for the second quarter of 2009. The completion of construction is planned for the end of 2009, so the company would launch trial production during the first quarter of 2010.
