The Best Year for Atlantska Plovidba

The year 2008 will be the best year in the history of the Dubrovnik shipping company Atlantska Plovidba, said Ante Jerković, the company’s CEO, at today’s press conference.

By the end of the year, a profit of over 150 million dollars is expected. At the end of October this year, a profit of 158 million dollars was recorded, of which 151 million USD was in the maritime sector, but due to the crisis, it is expected that this profit will be somewhat lower by the end of the year, Jerković said. Speaking about forecasts for 2009, the CEO of Atlantska Plovidba stated that if freight rates remain at the current level, a loss of 30 million dollars is expected. Regarding investments in fleet renewal, it was highlighted that three new ships are currently being built in Vietnam, and there are plans to build five more large ships. Among other companies operating under Atlantska Plovidba, it was noted that the airline Dubrovnik Airlines will finish the year with a positive zero, Hotel Lapad will end the year with a loss due to reconstruction investments, while the Hilton Imperial hotels and the travel agency Atlant have performed well this year.
