At the 2nd Assembly of the Croatian Chamber of Economy held today in Zagreb, the current situation in the Croatian economy was discussed, and economic expectations for 2009 were presented.
Dynamic changes in the global market, whose negative trends can be expected in the coming business years in the Republic of Croatia, place the Croatian Chamber of Economy under the obligation to intensify all its activities aimed at promoting and protecting the interests of its members in all aspects of their business, it was stated at the assembly. It was decided at the assembly that the annual obligations of HGK members will be reduced by 25 percent compared to previous ones. Likewise, it was decided that employee salaries will not change, although the average net salary in the Chamber is below the Croatian average considering the level of education. – I hope that such a decision on salaries will not result in the loss of quality personnel – said HGK President Nadan Vidošević. HGK intends to direct all available resources towards the execution of key projects and activities of the Chamber. With this approach, a reduction of the HGK budget by about 3 million euros is expected. The planned expansion of the Chamber’s offices abroad, or the establishment of an economic diplomacy system, will be postponed until 2010. (O. Š.)
