With the implementation of SAP, part of the responsibility has been taken over by Nestlé’s customers and suppliers

What the Nestlé group has done to optimize its supply chain was discussed at today’s lecture ‘Supply chain and FMCG’, held at the Antunović hotel in Zagreb.

The lecture on fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) was organized by the Croatian Association for Supply Chain Management, and experiences in the implementation of SAP in the company’s logistics were shared by Matthias Fleischer, Procurement Director of Nestlé Adriatica, and Krunoslav Mervar, Customer Relations Director.

– With the integrated implementation of SAP, the customer and supplier operate together. Everyone sees the same information and becomes equally responsible for inventory creation, planning, and distribution. The focus of the entire process has shifted from the customer to sales plans. Inventory creation has been optimized according to market needs, the company reacts faster to all market changes, and in short, this system allows us to deal with exceptional situations and to make changes where we can and need to – said Mervar.

Members of the Croatian Association for Supply Chain Management, established two years ago, were most interested in how long it took to set up SAP in all approximately 400 Nestlé factories worldwide and how long the adaptation lasted.

– We implemented SAP in 2003, but we did not have major problems because the company had already made the necessary organizational changes before the program was set up – said Fleischer. (Ema Martinović)
