The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development today approved financial compensation for producers of fattened poultry and table and breeding eggs, with a total value of 24,574,000 kuna.
Based on the conducted public tender, out of 260 submitted applications from producers, 64 were selected who met the conditions. As stated by the State Secretary in the Ministry, Krešimir Kuterovac, 85 percent of the funds are intended for producers of fattened poultry, while 15 percent are for producers of table and breeding eggs. The funds were approved based on a conclusion of the Croatian Government, in order to cover the difference between the production price of fattened poultry for slaughter and the market price of meat, as well as compensation for increased production costs of table and breeding eggs due to rising feed prices.
Producers of fattened poultry for slaughter who delivered poultry for slaughter and producers of breeding and table eggs who delivered table eggs to the market, or breeding eggs for further production (incubator), had the right to participate in the tender. – We have been working on this for a while, as this sector is extremely important to us. It is one of the most organized and competitive sectors, and we believed that producers need help to at least somewhat overcome the problems. On the other hand, a portion of these funds will certainly go to their cooperators, so these funds will also be beneficial from that perspective – said Kuterovac. (Edis Felić)
