This season, German football clubs in the top league will generate the highest revenue from jersey sponsorships, totaling 102.9 million euros, as reported by the market research company “Sport und Markt”.
Among the 18 Bundesliga clubs, Bayern leads in jersey sponsorship revenue, expected to earn as much as 20 million euros this season, which is nearly one-fifth of the total amount.
The earnings of English clubs from this type of sponsorship have significantly decreased due to the decline in the value of the British pound. Premier League clubs will earn a total of 85.9 million euros from jersey sponsorships this season.
Bayern is also leading in European terms, with the T-Home logo, part of the Deutsche Telekom group, featured on their jerseys. Following Bayern is Manchester United, which will earn 17.7 million euros this football season from the American insurance company AIG. The American government rescued AIG from bankruptcy this autumn by injecting a massive 90 billion dollars into it.
After Manchester United, Real Madrid follows, expected to earn 15 million euros from the online betting company Bwin. Chelsea received 12.6 million euros from the electronics company Samsung. AC Milan (Bwin) and Schalke (Russian energy giant Gazprom) follow with 12 million euros each.
Additionally, despite the significant crisis in the financial system, institutions such as banks and insurance companies remain the largest sponsors of football. (Hina)
