Late last night in Barcelona, the prestigious European magazine IPE (Investment and Pensions Europe) awarded the Croatian Raiffeisen Mandatory Pension Fund (ROMF) the title of best fund in Central and Eastern Europe for 2008. The award was accepted by ROMF Supervisory Board member Werner Niepel.
”We are particularly proud of this recognition as this is already the second award that IPE has given to ROMF. The fund won the award for the best European fund in 2005 in the category of pension funds with net assets up to one billion euros and was also shortlisted among the 4 best funds in Europe. That year, ROMF became the first Croatian pension fund to win any of IPE’s awards.” – emphasizes the CEO of Raiffeisen Pension Management Company for managing the mandatory pension fund (ROMD), Damir Grbavac.
The awards have been presented since 2001 and have represented indicators of excellence in the management of European pension funds from the very beginning. The aim of this project is to reward successful and creative fund managers and pension fund administrations, and the award ceremony has become a gathering place for leading figures in the entire European pension industry. This year’s award for the best European pension fund went to the Dutch fund De Eendragt Pensioen NV, which also won the award for the best pension fund in its country. Among the winners, the ATP and Clwyd funds stand out, each winning three awards, the silver award for the best corporate pension fund was won by British Steel, while the Construction Worker’s Pension Scheme was named the best industrial pension fund, according to the statement.
