Friščić can keep the gifted watch

The Commission for the Decision on Conflict of Interest today determined that the Vice President of the Croatian Parliament, Josip Friščić, can keep the watch he received as a gift from an employee of the Koprivnica-Križevci County upon leaving his position as county prefect.

"The watch he received is not considered an improper gift, as it does not place him in a relationship of dependency or obligation towards the donors, the county collective, and this gift does not exceed 500 kuna in value from an individual person," said the President of the Commission, Mate Kačan, responding to Friščić’s request for the Commission to express its opinion regarding this gift. The Commission unanimously accepted the proposal for the appearance of the asset card where loans, debts, and guarantees were additionally included.

Kačan reported that the Commission inherited 169 cases, and it will process 99 of them, as in 40 cases the reported officials no longer have official status, and 30 cases do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Commission. Commission member Miljenko Dorić (HNS) appealed for the work of the Commission to be expedited, and his proposal that all cases and opinions of the Commission be placed on the website will also be considered, if there are technical conditions for that.

The Commission established a conflict of interest, reacting to an anonymous report in the case of Ivo Zrilić, a member of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County administration, who was simultaneously a member of the supervisory board of the company Liburnija Riviera Hoteli d.d., which is not of special state interest for the county, which is why the official needs to separate private from public interest and report this to the Commission. The Commission still needs to collect the appropriate documentation on other cases.

The Commission will also consider the report from the Croatian Society for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights against Mayor Milan Bandić regarding the transfer or sale of 25 percent ownership stake in Radio 101 to former and current radio employees at one of the upcoming meetings. "In the previous procedure, we will collect the appropriate documentation to see if this is a matter within the jurisdiction of our Commission," said Kačan. (H)
