HT at 216 kuna, the lowest level since listing

Despite the fact that during the day the stock index dangerously approached the psychological barrier of 2,000 points, the day ended with a minimal increase of 0.01 percent, at a closing of 2,050 points.

The total turnover of 41.7 million kuna indicates that caution still prevails in the market. Among liquid stocks, only Podravka and Dalekovod recorded positive movements. Today, the domestic market blindly followed signals from abroad. Today’s rise in Crobex was more influenced by positive sentiments from outside than by explanations from economic policy makers about the future of the domestic economy in light of the financial crisis shaking the world. The most liquid stock was HT with a turnover of ten million kuna and a price drop of 1.67 percent, closing at 216 kuna. This stock has thus reached its lowest value since being listed on the stock exchange.

With a turnover of 4.8 million kuna, the second most liquid stock was Atlantska plovidba, whose price is down by 0.87 percent today. The construction sector had uneven performance today. While IGH shares fell by 0.32 percent (3.6 million kuna turnover), and Ingra by 1.38 percent (three million kuna turnover), Dalekovod soared by 1.66 percent with a total turnover of 1.6 million kuna. The preferred shares of Adrisa and the shares of Ericsson Nikola Tesla had approximately equal turnover, amounting to 1.6 million kuna. Adris recorded a decrease of 0.31 percent, while Ericsson’s shares are down by 1.82 percent. Ina continued its trend of reaching record low values today.

The closing price of 1,525 kuna is also the lowest price since being listed on the stock exchange of the largest Croatian oil company. Ina traded today for a total of 1.1 million kuna. Among the more liquid stocks, only one recorded an increase. That is Podravka from Koprivnica, which rose by 1.64 percent with a turnover of 0.3 million kuna. Stocks in the US began trading at slightly higher prices than yesterday’s. If nothing tragic happens by the end of trading in the US and Asia, tomorrow the domestic index could detach from chronically low values.  (Amir Kulenović)
