Euphoria Fades on the Zagreb Stock Exchange

After yesterday’s explosion and rise in prices of a large number of shares, the domestic capital market has once again fallen into a kind of apathy today. The Crobex index fell by 3.56 percent, closing at 2,313 points with a total turnover of 63 million kuna.

The only share with a million kuna turnover that is in the positive is that of Privredna banka Zagreb. For the second day in a row, the most liquid share is that of Atlantska plovidba. Today, this shipping company was traded for a total of 15.1 million kuna with a price drop of 1.12 percent. Interestingly, today the BDI index recorded an increase of 1.3 percent after several weeks, but this did not reflect on the Dubrovnik shipping company. In contrast to the negative trend of Atlantska, its sector colleague Uljanik plovidba recorded a price increase of 3.83 percent with a turnover of 900 thousand kuna.

With a turnover of 13.1 million kuna, the share of HT follows, which is down by 0.21 percent, closing at 237.5 kuna.
The share of Dalekovod was traded for 4.7 million kuna with a price drop of 2.54 percent. Other construction companies are also recording price drops today – IGH is down by 3.79 percent (4.4 million kuna turnover), and Ingra by 1.09 percent (4.3 million kuna turnover). The privileged share of Adrisa was traded for a total of 3.2 million kuna with a price drop of 0.44 percent. With a turnover of 2.6 million kuna by liquidity criteria, the share of Končar follows, which today recorded a price drop of 2.21 percent.

The only share among the “millionaires” that is in the positive today is PBZ, which, with a turnover of 1.1 million kuna, recorded a price increase of 1.48 percent. The leading exchanges in Europe had a performance similar to Zagreb’s, which supports the assumption that Barack Obama’s victory in the US presidential elections was already factored into stock prices yesterday. Today, it seems as if nothing happened – Russia is already threatening to deploy ballistic missiles in the Baltics as a warning to the new president, and stock prices in the US opened trading with declines of several percent.  (Amir Kulenović)
