Police Granted Protection to Antoan Kralj Due to Death Threats

Due to death threats, the director of the Dubrovnik company Konel, Antoan Kralj, has received police protection, confirmed Ivan Kukrika, spokesperson for the Dubrovnik-Neretva Police Administration.

"The police have assigned one person to protect Antoan Kralj," Kukrika told Hina this evening. He added that "the rest is a matter of criminal investigation" and that for now the police "cannot say anything more." The information about the threats was published by the local weekly "Dubrovački vjesnik," which reports that there were multiple threats sent via mobile phone.

Antoan Kralj and his father Antun, who is the owner of the company "Konel," are known to the public from the "Five Stars" affair. The owner of the Adriatic Luxury Hotels (JLH) group, Goran Štrok, reported father and son Kralj and former head of the building permit issuance department in the county administration, Ivo Žeravica, for extortion. The Kraljs allegedly extorted money from Štroka to obtain the necessary permits for opening his high-category Hotel Bellevue, which had been closed for months due to incomplete documentation and suffered significant financial losses as a result.

An indictment has been raised against Antun and Antoan Kralj and Ivo Žeravica for bribery, abuse of position and authority, and incitement to a criminal offense. Antoan Kralj has reportedly also hired a private security company to protect himself, his wife, and their two minor sons. (Hina)
