Today, Shipowners Finally Had a Positive Day

Once again influenced by news from abroad, the morning started extremely euphorically for the domestic market. The initial gain of seven percent during the day melted to a quite satisfactory 3.3 percent. The largest increases were recorded by shipping and construction stocks.

The total turnover on the Zagreb Stock Exchange amounted to 65 million kuna with an index increase of 3.3 percent, closing at 2,152 points. The most liquid was the HT stock with a turnover of 22 million kuna and a price increase of 1.41 percent, closing at 221 kuna. Today, shipowners finally had a positive day. Although the BDI index is slowly approaching levels from a few years ago (freight rates have fallen by more than ninety percent in less than two months), Croatian companies in the sector recorded significant growth today on the wings of euphoria. Thus, Atlantska plovidba is up by 10.23 percent (6.9 million kuna turnover), and Uljanik plovidba by 12.25 percent (500 thousand kuna turnover).

After shipowners, the construction sector performed best today – IGH is up by 6.26 percent (5.1 million kuna turnover), Dalekovod by 7.7 percent (2.3 million kuna turnover), and Ingra by 11.63 percent (2.2 million kuna turnover).
The Franka stock was traded in significantly larger volumes than usual today. With a total turnover of 2.3 million kuna, this stock recorded a price increase of 0.42 percent.

Ericsson Nikola Tesla today announced its business results for the third quarter. A sales growth of about ten percent was recorded, while profit slightly increased. Investors rewarded this with a price increase of 2.32 percent on a total turnover of two million kuna. Inom was traded for 1.4 million kuna with a price increase of 5.2 percent. The only stock among the millionaires that recorded a price drop is Valamar. With a turnover of one million kuna, this stock sank by 7.11 percent. Stocks in the U.S. recorded an increase at the very opening of trading for the second consecutive day. If optimism continues, euphoria similar to yesterday’s could prevail in the Croatian market tomorrow.  (Amir Kulenović)
