Shipowners and Ina the Biggest Losers of the Day

Although it seemed in the morning that Crobex would slip below the psychological barrier of 2,000 points, stronger trading during the day mitigated the initial loss, so the day ended with a decline of the index by ‘only’ 4.97 percent. Along with shipowners, the biggest price drop was recorded by Ina’s stock, which plummeted to a closing price of 2,025 kuna.

Another panic-stricken start to the week for the domestic market. After the catastrophe of global stock exchanges on Friday, and especially under the influence of a strong decline in Asian markets that occurred this morning, the domestic market immediately after opening fell by more than six percent. During the day, this loss partially melted away, although Crobex ended the day dangerously close to the 2,000-point mark.

The total turnover on the regular market today amounted to 77 million kuna with a decline of the index by 4.97 percent, closing at 2,083 points. The most liquid stock was HT with a turnover of 20 million kuna and a price drop of two percent, closing at 220 kuna. Atlantska plovidba was second in liquidity with a turnover of 10.9 million kuna and a price drop of 14.09 percent. Other shipowners, despite the catastrophic morning, managed to reduce their own losses during the day – Uljanik plovidba ended the day with a loss of 5.09 percent (800 thousand kuna turnover), and Tankerska with 7.9 percent (300 thousand kuna turnover).

Sector-wise, builders are the second biggest losers after shipowners. IGH, despite today’s published results showing an increase in profit, weakened by 5.67 percent (seven million kuna turnover), Dalekovod by 5.93 percent (3.1 million kuna turnover), and Ingra by 3.66 percent (2.6 million kuna turnover).

The biggest negative surprise is Ina’s stock, which today plummeted by a high 10.58 percent with a total turnover of 2.2 million kuna. Although the price of crude oil is falling day by day, such a high drop in Ina’s price was not expected, especially since our largest oil company has not followed foreign trends until now. On the other hand, the only liquid stock that recorded a price increase today is Podravka, which with an increase of 2.28 percent (3.1 million kuna turnover) confirms its status as the only defensive stock in the domestic market.
