Ljubljana Stock Exchange Introduces Temporary Trading Rules

Due to a record drop in exchange rates on Wednesday, the Ljubljana Stock Exchange has today introduced new temporary trading rules to ensure the regulated operation of the stock market. Based on the decision of the management of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange regarding temporary measures, a 20 percent limit on price movements has been introduced for the entry quotation for the stock market, the market for investment coupons, and shares of investment companies.

In addition, according to the new rules, the auction interruption time has also been extended to ensure the concentration of orders for the appropriate formation of market rates. The measures are valid until revoked, and they aim to intervene during periods of imbalance and changes in the market, the exchange announced. The measures are aligned with the decision of the regulatory agency for the securities market. The central stock index of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, SBI, recorded a record drop of nearly eight percent on Wednesday compared to the previous day, and since the beginning of the year, its value has fallen by 46 percent, nearly equaling the level from July 2006. Slovenian financial portals link the drop in the stock index to financial turmoil in the world and the state of global stock markets, as well as the announcement of a recession in which values could particularly decline for companies related to the automotive industry, as well as furniture and household appliance manufacturers due to potential reduced demand.
