Crans Montana Forum in Sarajevo to Strengthen Regional Cooperation

More than five hundred participants from thirty countries gathered in Sarajevo for a three-day mini Crans Montana Forum. Participants of the Sarajevo CMF, mainly representatives from political life, the economy, and the copper sector, will discuss projects in the fields of infrastructure, industry, energy, tourism, as well as strengthening political cooperation and stability in the region over the next three days.

In the presence of CMF President Jean-Paul Carteron, the forum was opened by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nikola Špirić, who invited participants to consider investment opportunities in BiH and to recognize the need to strengthen regional cooperation. "This cooperation is vital for the successful completion of the integration of Southeast Europe into Euro-Atlantic structures," said Špirić. The High Representative for BiH, Miroslav Lajčak, also called for stronger cooperation with the country and investment in it during his speech.

Despite the problems BiH faces and the disagreements among its political leaders, the European perspective for BiH is quite certain, Lajčak assessed, expressing hope that after the local elections, the country will now turn back to the reforms that need to be implemented. The Crans Montana Forum in Sarajevo was organized by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) and is held under the auspices of the Council of Ministers and entity governments. (H)
