City of Zagreb Transfers 25 Percent Stake to Shareholders of ‘Radio 101’

The City of Zagreb has transferred its 25 percent stake in the share capital of ‘Radio 101’ d.o.o. to 73 shareholders, current and former employees, and the contract for the division and transfer of shares, valued at a total of 554,600 kuna, was signed today at the City Hall by Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić, on behalf of the City of Zagreb, and members of the Management Board of Radio 101 Dario Dusper and Tamara Pavlica, on behalf of the shareholders.

"The City of Zagreb has never interfered in the editorial policy of Radio 101 nor made comments on the program. You have ‘skinned’ us when it was necessary and when it was not, and for that, we thank you," said Mayor Bandić to the gathered employees of Radio 101, among whom were editor Zrinka Vrabec-Mojzeš, editor of "Zagreb’s Cut" Maja Šudić, host Siniša Švec, journalist Miljenko Cvitković-Minja, and many others. He wished success to all hosts, journalists, editors, and technicians of ‘stojedinica’, "people of pen and craft", who have already had quite a few matches under their belts, as well as to those who are just coming to the most recognizable frequency.

He also wished that the time of gatherings and protests at Ban Jelačić Square, as it was in 1996, does not repeat. Member of the Management Board of Radio 101 Dario Dusper confirmed that the City of Zagreb has never had any demands regarding the editorial policy of Radio 101, not even when it was its 100 percent owner, and stood by Radio during the most difficult moments of turmoil and attempts to shut it down. ‘From today, we are formally taking care of our own fate," said Dusper, adding that Radio 101 will continue to remain an independent media outlet and an active critic, a private media with a public role. Bandić noted that he will strive for Radio 101 to remain in its current premises on Gajeva Street.  (H)
