Due to reduced sales of Renault’s Twingo and Clio II models, the French car manufacturer will lay off 200 workers at its Slovenian company “Revoz” in Novo Mesto, Slovenian media reported on Thursday, citing a statement from “Revoz”.
The company’s management informed all employees at the beginning of the week that starting from November 1 of this year, one month earlier than planned, it will reduce the number of employees in the night shift from 500 to 300. The management "Revoz" claims that this is not a layoff of permanent employees according to the European layoff plan previously announced by Renault’s headquarters in France, but that some foreign workers employed on a fixed-term basis will be left without jobs. Despite the reduction in production until the end of the year, "Revoz" states that it will produce a record 200,000 vehicles this year, models "Twingo" and "Clio II.", but not 218,000 as originally planned.
