Of the 95 detained in the anti-corruption operation ‘Index’, around 60 are still in the Zagreb police, while the others were released after informational interviews, as confirmed by the spokesperson of the Police Directorate, Krunoslav Borovac.
"The situation is changing hour by hour, and it is currently not possible to say how many individuals will be suspected and brought before the investigating judge after the criminal processing," Borovac told Hina this morning, adding that the police will hold a press conference in the afternoon with the latest information. Borovac did not want to comment on the details and the current results of the criminal processing of the 95 individuals linked to corruption at four Zagreb faculties and one college.
Neither the head of the Police Director’s Office, Dubravko Novak, wanted to provide any new information, but merely stated that the police have another 24 hours for processing and holding the detained, among whom are 21 university professors, three assistants, and four officials from the University of Zagreb suspected of corruption. They are suspected of receiving bribes of up to 9,000 euros for enrollment in faculties and between 400 to 2,000 euros for passing exams. (H)
