Willi Weber, who was the manager of the best “Formula 1” driver Michael Schumacher, will have to appear in court in Koblenz, Germany on September 29 due to charges of participating in economic fraud.
Weber, who was also the manager of Michael’s brother, Ralf Schumacher, is accused of causing the insolvency of the company where he was director. Specifically, Weber, as the director of the company, approved a payment of 1 million and 190 thousand euros to a sister company in October 2001. At the time he approved this payment, the company he was directing was already in debt, and due to the paid amount of 1 million and 190 thousand euros, it became insolvent. This money was used to pay for souvenirs bearing the names of Michael and Ralf Schumacher that were intended for market sale. Weber denies the allegations in the indictment. However, if found guilty, he faces a prison sentence of up to ten years. (H)
