At the meeting of the Economic-Social Council, it was officially announced that representatives of the Government, trade unions, and employers will discuss amendments to several laws in the healthcare sector. However, according to some media reports, HUP will present an initiative to amend the Law on the Croatian Chamber of Economy at the meeting.
They believe that the Chamber should be a voluntary association of Croatian companies, rather than a mandatory form of association that comes with the payment of levies. Membership fees, which are paid based on the size of the company and contributions relative to total revenue, amount to 250 million kuna annually collected by the Chamber. HUP’s budget, according to President Damir Kuštrak, is 14 million kuna per year. HUP members believe that the Chamber and HUP should operate in a market-oriented manner so that companies can choose whom to join. HGK believes that it represents all economic entities in Croatia and that everyone has equal rights to services and access to information, while HUP represents a specific interest group. (HTV)
