Prime Minister Dr. Ivo Sanader, after today’s mass celebration in Marija Bistrica, answered journalists’ questions about possible changes to the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia regarding the extradition of its citizens to other countries in the region.
"Within the European Union, there is no prohibition on extradition according to national legislations. Before we enter the European Union, Croatia will therefore have to change its Constitution. Since all countries in Southeast Europe are also striving for EU membership, they will have to change their Constitution or legislation, as without that, there is no entry into the EU", said Prime Minister Sanader.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader was today with his wife at the 277th pilgrimage of the faithful from the city of Zagreb to the national Marian shrine in Marija Bistrica. (H)
