GPP Osijek introduced the most modern automatic city transport payment system in Croatia and beyond at the beginning of September. This system introduces complete computerization in the issuance, collection, and control of tickets, and uniquely, only in Croatia will the citizens of Osijek be able to pay for public transport based on how much they actually used it.
This method of transport payment is made possible by the introduction of a system that operates on the principle of using contactless Butra cards, whereby the card is presented to the validator upon entering and exiting the vehicle to determine the value of the travel ticket. A novelty is the introduction of a unique card benefit, which is the possibility of paying for public transport with the Diners D2C card, in the same way as with the Butra card, thus giving the Diners D2C card the function of a travel ticket, as stated in the announcement. On the occasion of the introduction of contactless payment, Diners Club is offering all users of the Diners D2C card two free rides paid with this card until the end of the year. And for all those who request a Diners card at Erste Bank by September 30, Diners will gift the enrollment fee and membership fee for the first year of membership.
For users of public city transport, this system offers complete computerization in the issuance, collection, and control of tickets. As the citizens of Osijek will pay for transport based on the distance traveled, the price of a ticket for 3 stations will be lower than the price of a ticket for 5 stations for the average passenger. Along with Butra, a novelty is the introduction of a unique card benefit, which is the possibility of paying for public transport with the Diners D2C chip card, which supports the contactless payment system. The Diners D2C (Dual chip card) was the first card in the world to implement two chip technologies, allowing the user to use the card not only for traditional payment methods but also for smaller amounts by simply tapping the card on the chip reader.
