Croatia is satisfied with this year’s report from the European Commission on Croatia’s progress in the process of joining the European Union, adopted on Tuesday, and other documents adopted as part of the so-called “Enlargement Package”.
This was stated on Wednesday by Neven Pelicarić, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and Tamara Obradović Mazal, Assistant Minister and Secretary of the Negotiating Team, at a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs for heads of diplomatic missions of EU member states, Southeast European countries, the European Commission Delegation, and the OSCE Mission, where Croatia’s views on the mentioned document were presented, according to the statement. Pelicarić and Obradović Mazal emphasized that they welcomed the assessment from the report stating that Croatia has generally significantly developed its capacity to assume membership obligations.
They particularly called the assessments regarding progress in meeting economic criteria encouraging, emphasizing the existence of a functioning market economy and macroeconomic stability. Croatia’s progress in assuming membership obligations by individual chapters of the acquis communautaire was also reviewed, with the statement highlighting that Croatia was rated better in most chapters than in last year’s report.
