American toy manufacturer Mattel has decided to withdraw 17,000 toys from its ‘Laugh & Learn’ line of the Fisher-Price brand from the European market, as they contain potentially hazardous small parts, the European Commission announced on Tuesday.
This recall pertains to a series of children’s kitchen toys, produced in Mexico between May and October, the statement further indicates. This includes 7,000 toys distributed in the United Kingdom, 4,900 in Italy and Germany, and 394 in Austria, the Commission notes, emphasizing that other series of the same toys are not included in the recall. The recalled toys include a sink, refrigerator, and other kitchen items. According to a notice posted on Mattel’s website for the UK market, small parts of the faucet and clock handle, if detached, pose a choking hazard for small children. Mattel urges consumers to contact the Fisher-Price office to determine if they own any of the recalled toys and to request a replacement. (H)
