The popular cable channel HBO is launching video-on-demand, or a digital video library, in Croatia that will allow subscribers to watch movies, series, and concerts whenever they wish.
The new HBO Digital service will be available exclusively through MaxTV (Interactive Digital Television of T-Com) in Croatia, and during a 12-month trial period, it will be an integral part of the HBO subscription and will not incur additional charges. After that, a monthly flat fee will be charged for the service, which will grant HBO subscribers unlimited access to currently 20 movies, series, and concerts. The content of the HBO Digital video library will be refreshed monthly with new content, and the plan is for the monthly offering to reach 50 movies.
HBO’s representatives announce that HBO Digital will also be offered on digital cable and soon on other distribution platforms. Among other Central European countries, HBO Digital was launched in Hungary in March 2007 and is currently available in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. HBO Central Europe has approximately 2.5 million premium subscribers and more than three million regular subscribers in the Central European region. HBO first launched the HBO On Demand service in the United States on July 1, 2001. The number of subscribers to this service now exceeds 11 million. (H.M., HBO)
