Residents of the collapsed Kupska Street will protest in front of the HEP building at Ulica grada Vukovara 37. They will then protest in front of the Zagreb City Hall and the Ministry of Justice building. The reason for the protest is dissatisfaction with the pace of resolving their issue.
The residents’ attorney, Doris Košta, reported yesterday that the first hearing was held at the Municipal Court in Zagreb, marking the first meeting of the opposing parties. HEP and Tehnika opposed the adoption of temporary measures to secure housing for the residents. Košta stated that the court has given HEP and Tehnika a deadline of three days to respond, and after this period, a new hearing will be scheduled at which, she believes, a court decision will be made.
She added that at yesterday’s hearing, the project investor HEP and the contractor Tehnika questioned whether the residents were living in Kupska Street at the time of the collapse due to the construction of HEP’s underground garage, and that conditions have now been created for their return home, as the communal infrastructure is complete. Košta stated that the infrastructure is not finished, not all connections have been completed, and the pavement has not been restored. She emphasized that the conditions in the houses are not what they were before the collapse and it is questionable whether the houses are safe for living, as reported in the morning news on HTV.
