Nordic Days Open to Citizens

On Monday, the traditional Nordic Days in Croatia on the theme ‘Innovation and Design’ began at the Hypo Expo Center in Zagreb. This year, for the first time, Nordic Days are open to the public, with an interesting program prepared that includes special trips to Scandinavia and free makeup using Nordic cosmetics.

At the center of interest at the conference fair are companies that produce and sell furniture, innovate interior design, and engage in architecture, fashion, and textiles, as well as graphic and product design. A total of 64 companies from Northern Europe will present their products, including Swedish Ikea, Danish Fritz Hansen and Claire Group, Finnish Fiskars, Norwegian Janusfabrikken, and many other companies whose products are among the world’s top in design and innovation.

From the Croatian side, participation is expected from over 400 companies in the innovation and design sector, as well as companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, and Albania, who will meet with Nordic companies in pre-arranged individual meetings and educational seminars. The fourth Nordic Days were opened by the President of the Republic, Stjepan Mesić, and the organizers are the embassies of Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden, along with the Nordic Chamber of Commerce. Citizens will be able to visit the fair events on October 29 and 30.

Nordic Days are organized to develop business ties between Croatia and the Nordic countries, which are among the most developed countries in the world, with the aim of increasing trade exchange, which currently amounts to 792 million euros. Some of the largest Nordic investments in the Croatian economy include Carlsberg, ABB, Rockwool, and Hartmann. In 2006, Croatian exports to these countries reached 290 million euros. (Renato Đurđević)
