The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced today that it has filed criminal and misdemeanor charges against the companies Pliva Hrvatska and Kvasac for serious environmental offenses. The caused pollution cannot be remedied for an extended period, which has worsened the living conditions of people and animals and endangered the survival of plants and other vegetation, it is noted.
In recent days, inspection oversight and two sampling of discharged waters from the production facilities in Savski Marof (Prudnice) into the Gorjak watercourse have been conducted, during which discharges of heavily polluted wastewater from Kvasac d.o.o. and Pliva Hrvatska d.o.o. were identified, according to the statement. The Ministry has, as stated, filed criminal charges against responsible persons in Pliva and Kvasac for serious environmental offenses. The state water management inspection has also filed misdemeanor charges against the perpetrators and issued administrative measures to enforce previously issued inspection decisions.
The caused pollution cannot be remedied for an extended period, which has worsened the living conditions of people and animals and endangered the survival of plants and other vegetation, it is noted. The state water management inspection has also imposed a ban on the discharge of wastewater on the mentioned companies, as stated in the Ministry’s announcement. It is also emphasized that the Ministry will continue to be actively involved in the urgent resolution of connecting Pliva and Kvasac to the public drainage system of Zaprešić and discharging into the Sava River. The state water management inspection will continue to carry out all activities within its jurisdiction to prevent the leakage of polluted waters from the site and the spread of unpleasant odors, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management states.
