The Croatian Design Centre today announced at a press conference at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb the first international design conference Design for Everyday Life, which will take place on November 6 and 7 at the Hypo Expo Center in Zagreb.
As stated by the director of HDC, Tatjana Jallard, the aim is to convey Nordic knowledge about design to the public, state employees, and designers. – A synergy between the state, the business community, and designers is necessary, and the conference reflects the long-standing activities of HDC aimed at highlighting the potential of design in relation to the overall effective development of the economy – said Jallard. The conference also announced the upcoming adoption of a national design strategy, discussed by Ivica Grbac, assistant in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management.
– The Government of the Republic of Croatia has identified forestry and wood processing as a strategic economic area and a national priority. In this sense, design has emerged as a source and strategic tool for competitiveness, and therefore Croatia must be distinctly focused on systematic investment, both financial and organizational, in the field of design – said Grbac. HDC is organizing this conference in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, the National Council for Competitiveness, the Croatian Designers Society, and the Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish embassies.
