Representatives of the Consortium of Zagreb, Karlovac, Krapina-Zagorje County, and the City of Zagreb, along with the European Commission, will sign a contract for the establishment of the Regional Energy Agency of Northwestern Croatia.
The agency is being established based on the joint application of the Consortium members for the ‘Intelligent Energy for Europe’ program, which includes EU member states, Iceland, and Norway, with Croatia gaining access after the government signed a special Memorandum of Understanding in March. This program finances energy projects within the Framework Program for Competitiveness and Innovation. The primary goals of regional energy agencies are to promote and encourage regional sustainable development in the fields of energy and environmental protection through the use of renewable energy sources and the introduction of measures to increase energy efficiency.
