Bank Loans Exceed 210 Billion Kuna

At the end of August this year, bank loans in Croatia exceeded the amount of 210 billion kuna, with an annual nominal growth rate of 17.4 percent compared to the same month last year, while loans to households are growing at a faster rate of 20.2 percent.

Thus, at the end of August this year, bank loans to households amounted to a total of 107.7 billion kuna, according to the latest data from the Croatian National Bank on the distribution of bank loans by institutional sectors. The credit activity of banks directed towards households continues, while loans to enterprises are recording a decrease in the growth rate compared to previous months. In total loans at the end of August, loans to households accounted for 51.2 percent, to enterprises for 40 percent, and to the central government for 7.2 percent. Compared to August last year, total loans increased by 31.2 billion kuna, with more than 58 percent of that increase relating to loans to households. Citizens have taken on new debts amounting to 18.1 billion kuna compared to August last year.
