Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen in a Ferrari car won the world champion title by winning the Brazilian Grand Prix at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo, in the last race of the season which broke records in revenue generated.
For the first time in his career, the Finn became champion thanks to the fact that the current world champion, Spaniard Fernando Alonso (McLaren-Mercedes), finished third, while the leading Briton Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) finished the race only in seventh place.
In addition to the unexpected outcome, this year’s Formula 1 season brought a lot of excitement due to record revenues. As analyzed by global agencies, Formula 1 owner Bernie Ecclestone and his company Formula One Administration Ltd. (FOA) will earn as much as 3.05 billion euros. Formula One has once again proven to be a gold mine as Ecclestone will reap huge revenue thanks to earnings from advertisements, television broadcasts, and ticket sales for the 17 races held this season.
