Spanish driver Fernando Alonso has rejected the highest salary in Formula 1 history. The automotive company Toyota offered him a salary of approximately €40 million per year to switch to their team, but he remained indifferent.
The information about the "basket" that Alonso gave to Toyota was published by the British magazine Sunday Express ahead of the last race of the Formula One season. After three years of loyalty, Ralf Schumacher is leaving Toyota, whose salary of approximately €20 million per year did not help him achieve good results.
To strengthen its position in Formula 1, Toyota does not intend to spare any expense. However, analysts claim that it cannot offer drivers a sufficiently competitive car. This season, for example, its drivers have only scored 12 points, while McLaren’s drivers have scored 107. (T. V.)
