The prices of new apartments in Croatia continue to rise significantly. The average price per square meter of new apartments sold by commercial companies and other legal entities in the first half of this year in Croatia already amounted to 12,003 kuna.
This is 9.9 percent higher than in the second half of last year, 11.3 percent or 1,221 kuna more compared to the price per square meter for the entire year of 2006, and 12.9 percent or 1,374 kuna more expensive than in the first half of last year, according to data published by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
Above-average contributions to such trends come from the prices of apartments in Zagreb. Thus, the average price per square meter of new apartments in Zagreb, sold by commercial companies and other legal entities, rose to 13,802 kuna in the first half of 2007, which is 13.9 percent or 1,683 kuna higher than in the same period of the previous year. It follows that an apartment of sixty square meters in Zagreb has increased in price by more than one hundred thousand kuna in one year. (H)
