The delegation of APIU, led by its director, Slobodan Mikac, has returned from a business tour of Spain, currently the fifth strongest economy in Europe, aimed at encouraging investments from Spanish companies in Croatia and increasing the export of Croatian goods to the wealthiest regions on the Iberian Peninsula: Catalonia, Madrid, and Valencia.
On this occasion, the consortium Green Fusion confirmed its intention to invest in renewable energy sources in Croatia, together with Končar, of at least 200 MW, particularly in wind and solar power plants, as well as in the production of ethanol, biogas, and biodiesel. This company has already invested 960 million euros in Bulgaria and Romania, and by the end of October, Green Fusion experts will examine the proposed Croatian locations for the construction of power plants. Additionally, representatives of one of the largest European logistics companies, the Abertis group, which encompasses 60 companies, are interested in participating in the project for the construction and operation of a Logistics Intermodal Center near Zagreb Airport.
APIU representatives have arranged with the largest Spanish wholesale company, Mercabarna, for the supply of fresh fish, meat, vegetables, and fruits for the Spanish market, which will now flow through direct channels rather than indirectly as before. It has also been agreed that the largest department store chain in Spain, El Corte Ingles, will organize a Croatia Week with a sales exhibition of our food products in the first half of next year.
