HTV reported this evening in its News that HANFA has begun an investigation into the manipulation of the collection of binding offers from citizens for the initial public offering of T-Hrvatski Telekom shares.
In a report by journalist Mira Aščić, it was stated that Sebastian Popović, the former owner of Vodatela, collected 62 powers of attorney. Popović explained in a phone conversation with Aščić that he lent money to his friends so they could buy T-HT shares, and the powers of attorney serve to ensure that they will use the money for that purpose, as well as a pledge for the repayment of the loan.
Josip šelendić, the son of stonemason Željko, as noted in HTV’s report, has 52 powers of attorney, and he told the journalist that they are from his workers who authorized him so they would not waste time in banks and institutions.
Football manager Zdravko Mamić, currently at the center of a scandal involving insults and threats to journalists, and his brother Zoran, a former active player of Dinamo, reportedly have as many as 84 powers of attorney together, but it is alleged that only Zoran Mamić participated in the purchase of shares.
A spokesperson for HANFA confirmed that the agency is starting an investigation and explained that individuals who unlawfully participate in the trading of securities face a monetary fine or imprisonment of one to five years. (I. Š.)
