The acting director of the Public Health Institute of the City of Zagreb, Tihomir Majić, reported today that experts from the Institute have discovered water contaminated with mineral oils in five apartments in three buildings in the Zagreb neighborhood of Špansko.
"In Špansko, there is no problem with the contamination of the public water supply network, but rather contamination of the private (internal) water supply network in five apartments in three buildings," Majić told Hina. He stated that the city’s Public Health Institute found contaminated water with mineral oils in two apartments in two buildings, and in one apartment in one building. Majić mentioned that following complaints from residents, analyses were conducted in September, and that the results were completed yesterday and today, with part of the water having been analyzed last year when residents brought samples for testing. The apartments are located at Stjepana Majora Street 5 and 7, and Vlade Gotovca Street 1.
Majić announced that epidemiologists from the Public Health Institute will provide individual recommendations to residents in whose apartments contaminated water was found. He also announced that a press conference will be held at the Institute on Friday, where the public will be informed about the cause of the water contamination with mineral oils in Vrbanima III.
