On the City Day, a factory for external and internal carpentry of the Italian company Cormo was opened in the Bjelovar free zone Lepirac, the first greenfield investment in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County. It will employ 40 workers, with plans to increase to 200 employees.
The factory covers an area of 2,500 square meters and is equipped with the latest machinery. This is the first factory of this company outside Italy. So far, more than 3 million euros have been invested to start production, and there are plans to double the initial investment.
As reported by HRT, Minister of Economy Branko Vukelić praised this investment and stated that Italy is at the forefront of economic cooperation and that the trade exchange between our two countries is around six billion dollars, which is 20 percent of Croatia’s total trade exchange with other countries. Mayor Đurđa Adlešić said that just a year ago there was a meadow at this location, and now there is a factory where domestic labor, skilled and not cheap, will produce for export.
Minister Branko Vukelić today opened the East Business Zone in Bjelovar, where about 150 workers will be employed. At the opening of the zone, Mayor Adlešić emphasized that the new zones aim to reduce unemployment, and her goal is to decrease unemployment below the national average by the end of her term.
