The National Competitiveness Council (NVK) has supported four projects aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the Croatian economy through the use of advanced information and communication technologies (ICT), as announced by the NVK.
The Council has supported the Government’s internet portal ‘Moja uprava’, whose promotion is expected soon. This portal facilitates communication between citizens and legal entities with the state, where all information necessary for daily communication with state administration bodies will be available. It has also supported the establishment of a comprehensive infrastructure and service system for a new way of learning implemented by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. The new system allows all primary and secondary school students in Croatia to access free interactive online materials through the school portal www.skole.hr and the remote learning portal ‘Nikola Tesla’.
The NVK has also supported the plan of Fina, under which this financial institution aims to become the central collection point for overdue receivables in Croatia. By accepting this new role for Fina, it is assessed in the NVK’s announcement, significant funds currently blocked would be released for the economy, and Croatia would take a step closer to the standards of financial discipline and legal security of the EU and other developed countries. The Council has also supported the initiative to establish a ‘Center for the Future’, which is a civil initiative aimed at contemplating developmental alternatives for Croatia. The project was created based on similar initiatives in Scandinavia, Israel, and Great Britain, which rely on learning about intellectual capital from Swedish management ‘guru’ Leif Edvinsson, as stated in the announcement.
